Assistant Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Darlington
A major consultancy that specialises in the provision of planning, design and management services for infrastructure development worldwide is seeking an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer to work in its Darlington office.
As an Assistant Engineer you will be involved with geotechnical and geoenvironmental site investigations, geotechnical design (foundations, retaining walls, slopes etc) and geotechnical analysis. You may be involved in geoenvironmental site assessments, supported by geoenvironmental specialists where required. You will also be involved in highway, infrastructure and water geotechnics, including the inspection and assessment of geotechnical assets. As part of the role, report writing, contract document preparation and site supervision will be required.
You will need to have a BSc degree as a minimum and preferably a Masters degree qualification with at least 3 years post graduate experience. You will also need to show a desire to develop your skills in the field of geotechnical engineering and aim to become chartered. The ability work in a team and sometimes under pressure is essential, as well as a flexible approach to work, self motivation and a desire to deliver work to time to budget.
